Finished my presentation! Now I just have two more essays to go, yay... =_= though that's not really anything to celebrate, because each essay is about 3500 words... ok, it won't seem much for those PhD students who need to write long papers, but I'm only used to writing 2000 words. Anyhow, enough about uni, it's long weekend! Kind of sad because these public holidays really don't mean much to me. Still going to work, still going to uni, still doing the same things while everyone else celebrates, or go for a weekend trip.
Still, can't complain. Currently, I should be thinking on what to do with my Sunday School kids tomorrow, but digressing with a blog entry. Croutons are baking in the oven, so I better not forget about that.
This week has been pretty productive- workwise. Haven't been to many places to eat as a result, so this entry will be quite a sad one.

Chicken and jellyfish salad- also an appetizer. Should have scrolled down in the menu because there were other jellyfish salad varieties, like with crispy chicken ; ;

Common way of ordering now. Soon we'll have no need for pen and paper. I'm actually looking forward to the day when we don't even use paper money or coins anymore. Eftpos only please =) Will make the job at supermarket so much easier. Easier but slower unless they do something about the system.

We were pretty hungry so fried chicken wings too =) Standard. Can't go wrong with fried chicken wings.

tt's pork belly and roast duck with rice. That dark looking sauce was a little strange- it was tasteless.

My wet fried beef noodles. I love hor fun, it's my favourite type of noodles.... along with udon. Actually, glass noodles are really nice too. Hm.. anyway, it was a HUGE serving, I couldn't get through more than half of it. It's probably good to share this one. They did fry it really well too. Tt said that because it's a Chinese restaurant, it's better to order Chinese food rather than their other types of cuisine. I don't really remember what they had on their menu, but there were spaghetti and pizza too, I think.

Window display of the roasted goods.

We went quite early, around 10:30am, so it's no surprise the place was quiet. They have many items on their menu, so it's worth revisiting. Lots of interesting drinks too, but I tend not to order drinks at restaurants... unless it's REAL lemon tea, which they had, so might order that next time =)

Been having fun with sandwich fillings recently, because I got something interesting which I saw from Japan =) This one- cream cheese with peach slices, did not work =( I didn't drain the peaches enough, so it was still quite wet, ended up with soggy cream cheese bread which was just disgusting, haha. Still, I'm not giving up on dessert sandwiches- Japanese people always make cream with mixed fruit sandwiches and they look so good!

My dad has been so proud of his flowers.. I forgot what they're called. I remembered last year... Spot the cat! =D

There she is! Latti XD

Easter's long gone, but I have a box of this sitting right next to me. I don't buy Easter eggs during Easter because it's simply too expensive and not worth it at all. AFTER Easter, however, when the prices get slashed half-priced, that's when I get to pig out.

Coffee art from Pennant Hills Corner Cafe. Yes yes, I go there so often, and blog about it often enough too. A customer actually asked me at work where's the best place to get coffee at Penno, and I said I always go to the Corner Cafe opposite the train station. I should get paid for advertising.

Longan! I much prefer longan over rambutans. They never stick to the seed.
From Week 17, 2010 |
And these ones in particular had such tiny seeds! The odd big seed belonged to a longan that was actually sweeter than the rest, but the others were still sweet. Good value!

Pessimon! For some reason, this reminds me of Shirakawa go, and how someone tried to pick pessimons from the trees and made us all eat it...

Guess where this awesome chashu ramen is from!
From Week 17, 2010 |
Here's a bigger hint: just look at the eggs!
From Week 17, 2010 |
And the thickness of the soup! It's so viscous, my spoon was literally floating on top. Where? If it's not obvious by now, you need to get yourself out of whatever hole you're in!
=D Gumshara really does have fantastic ramen. We haven't been back to gumshara since... ages ago, before the price went up, but really, who would mind paying a little more for such good ramen? I saw someone order the pork rib ramen- only 10 bowls served each day. I have yet to try that one, but I was more enticed by the chashu one. 10 slices of pork!! Of course, you can't order ramen at Gumshara without adding eggs as an additional topping. You just can't. It's irresistable.
I can rant on about those eggs forever. Let's have another look.

O O! If there's a way to type a face drooling, insert it right here.

After that, we went to the law library to study. And study we did. I did most of my presentation there =D The law library is so good to study in- big tables and power points everywhere for laptops. Someone having an onigiri and playing slime volleyball on my laptop there =_= . Afterwards, it was the typical night markets- chicken sticks, and rockmelon sago this time.
Talking about sago!!! It was my uni's midsem break on Tuesday and I met up with some classmates to yumcha at Regal. They are currently serving Mango Sago- the best I've ever had, with real pieces of mango inside. If anyone's going to Regal for yumcha anytime soon, get the sago =)

Oh, and the sandwich obsession I'm currently going through? Is thanks to this thing. Panda sandwich presser. It removes the crust from the bread and presses the edges together, forming a crustless sandwich where the filling won't fall out. In Japan's convenient stores, sandwiches are often packaged in this form.
It looks like that ^. Now I can make it at home! My dad has been scolding me about wasting the crust, but who said I was going to waste it? It's really simple to just use scissors and cut the crusts into little cubes, put it all into a container, add some extra virgin olive oil, herbs, and salt, cover and shake to coat all the little pieces. Oven it at 180 degrees until it's dry, and you get croutons! A bit like zwieback~ double baked bread =D no waste, and the croutons are so nice!
I shall experiment with the sandwich cutter more because it's actually a quirky thing I've been looking forward to owning ever since seeing it in Japan. Now I got it! =D
Oh crap, it's 11 soon, I really need to prepare Sunday School. My brother's munching on the croutons and he just said Ip Man II is coming out- the movie with Donnie Yen as the wing chun master. Second movie has Bruce Lee in it... or rather an actor for Bruce Lee, so that should be interesting. =)
Sunday school.....

D= I was working hard unlike someone. You should be thanking me since I got your internet working. =P
And, I thought the Ip Man was shot dead at the end of the first movie...? >_>
he was still alive and was brought to hk. Wounded, but alive =P
Someone didn't pay attention to the epilogue text in Ip Man!
Neat sandwich press thing... you could put the crusts in a bag and sell it cheap to some starving students...
Ahhhhh, gumshara. One day... one day...
We didn't get cheap easter eggs this time round. They're mostly milk chocolate anyways.
